It is illegal to buy these so called ‘Blood Diamonds’ in many countries that have imposed embargoes or to import them,they often turn up as unidentified diamonds though so try to ensure you know where your diamonds are originally from. Canadian diamonds are fully certified as being from Canada’s mines and being ‘conflict free’ so are a good choice.
Color varies in diamonds from impurities but the further the color from a plain white diamond the more valuable,you may find yellow diamonds occasionally,a pink diamond weighing in at 1 gram recently sold for over $10 million (US) though. The size as well as how well a diamond has been cut and finished will also affect price and can be seen by looking to some extent but some diamonds carry a report card though for those of us who aren’t experts.
